Train as a dental assistant from anywhere in Texas: how the online program works

Every week we hear from people in Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Waco, San Antonio — even across the Louisiana line — who found our tools and asked the same question: "I'm not driving to Longview. Can I still do this?" Yes. That is exactly what the online program is for.

What the online program is — said plainly

It is the same 12-module curriculum our Longview students learn, delivered self-paced in our own course platform: video lessons, quizzes, progress tracking, and a printable certificate of completion when you finish every lesson. You also get the trainers — Practice Pro for front-office software skills and ChairSide for clinical thinking — the same tools that make our graduates feel at home in a real office's software on day one.

What it is not: physical hands-on training. Nobody hands you instruments through a screen, and we will not pretend otherwise. Suction technique, tray setups, four-handed transfers — the physical craft — happens in a room, either in our lab or on the job.

Who it genuinely fits

Three kinds of people do well online: the far-away starter who wants the knowledge base and the credential path without moving; the working parent who can study 25 minutes at a time after bedtime but can't hold a class schedule; and the test-driver who wants to be sure before committing to the classroom. If you learn best with a person watching your hands, be honest with yourself and look at the in-person option — we compared them honestly here.

The 90-day credit that removes the risk

The safety net, in one sentence

If you start online and decide within 90 days that you want the classroom, 100% of what you paid transfers as credit toward in-person tuition. Current pricing for both is always on /enroll — what you see there is what the checkout charges, no games.

That structure exists on purpose. It means starting online is never a wasted dollar, even if you end up in Longview shaking our hands.

What a week looks like when you live two hours away

Pick a pace and protect it. Most self-paced students who finish treat it like a class anyway: three or four fixed sessions a week, 30–60 minutes each, one module every week or two. The free study plan tool builds the schedule around your real life, and the free practice exam tells you every few weeks whether it's sticking. When you're job-hunting, our Texas job outlook piece and the salary tool cover the money questions honestly.

And if you're ever near East Texas

The door is open. Come see what the physical lab looks like — it makes the videos click, and it is the fastest way to decide whether the 90-day transfer is your move.
