If you live in White Oak, here's something most towns we write these guides for can't say: you may have the shortest drive to hands-on RDA training of anybody in East Texas. Our campus sits on the northwest side of Longview — your side. Here's what that actually means for your commute, your budget, and your job hunt afterward.

The short version

White Oak doesn't have a dental assistant school inside city limits, and it doesn't need one — because the nearest hands-on program is barely outside them. Our campus at 2800 Gilmer Rd, Suite 106 sits on the northwest side of Longview, the same side of town White Oak touches. No crossing Longview at rush hour, no Loop 281 crawl. For most folks in White Oak it's a quick, familiar drive — the kind you already make for groceries or a game.

The program itself is about twelve weeks, in the daytime, two or three days a week depending on which cohort you pick. Every class is capped at eight students, so you're never a face in a lecture hall — your instructor knows your name, watches your hands, and fixes your technique on the spot.

Why your address is quietly an advantage

Gilmer Rd is Highway 300, and it runs up the northwest side of Longview — the corner of town closest to White Oak. That geography matters more than it sounds. Twelve weeks of class adds up to a lot of trips, and every trip you don't spend fighting across town is time you keep. Students who commute from Tyler or Marshall make it work every cohort; from White Oak, the drive is barely a factor at all.

Worth knowing

We keep a dedicated White Oak page with everything in one place — commute notes, program details, and start dates. Bookmark it if you're still deciding.

What the training actually looks like

The campus is built to feel like a working dental office, because that's what you're training for. You practice on real equipment and instruments, run patient scenarios in Practice Pro (the same style of practice-management software real offices run), and build chairside skills step by step in the Skills Lab. By the time you sit a working interview, the software, the trays, and the routines already feel familiar.

You may not have to pay all of it yourself

We accept Texas Workforce Solutions, WIOA, and GI Bill funding. If money is the sticking point, start with grants and financial aid for Texas dental assistant school — then call and we'll help you sort out what you qualify for.

Next start dates

Upcoming in-person cohorts begin August 17 (MWF), August 25 (T/Th), September 14, September 29, November 9, and November 17 — all daytime, all in Longview, all capped at eight students. See the full calendar for details.

One honest note: because classes cap at eight, the start date you want can genuinely fill. If a specific cohort fits your life, applying early costs nothing and holds your place in line.
