October Dental Assistant Classes in Longview: Two Start Dates
Two in-person classes start next month at our Longview campus — October 5 and October 20. They are not the same class on different days. They suit two genuinely different kinds of life, and picking the wrong one is the most common reason a good student struggles.
The two October starts, side by side
Both classes run at 2800 Gilmer Rd, Suite 106 in Longview. Both are the same roughly 12-week program, the same curriculum, the same hands-on room, and both cap at 8 students. The difference is how the week is shaped.
Three shorter mornings. You are done before lunch and your afternoons stay yours.
Two full days. Three weekdays a week stay completely clear.

Which start fits which kind of life
Here is the honest sorting, based on who does well in each room.
October 5 (Mon/Wed/Fri mornings) tends to fit people with school-age kids, people working afternoon or evening shifts, and people who learn better in shorter, more frequent doses. Three mornings a week means the material never sits cold for long. The trade: your week has class in it three times, so childcare and transportation have to work three days instead of two.
October 20 (Tue/Thu full days) tends to fit people who drive in from out of town, people whose employer can carve out two fixed days, and people who would rather protect three untouched weekdays. The trade: a six-hour class day is a real day, and if you are stacking a shift on top of it, you will feel it by week three.
The question that decides it: not "which schedule do I like better?" but "which one can I still do in week nine, on a week when something goes wrong?" Pick for your worst week, not your best one.

What the weeks between now and then should look like
You have a few weeks. Most people spend them waiting. The ones who start strong spend them getting ready — and none of this costs anything.
Learn the vocabulary before day one and the first two weeks stop feeling like a foreign language. Mesial, distal, occlusal, prophy, BOP — you will hear all of it in the first hour. Work the flashcards ten minutes a day and you will walk in ahead.
Sort the logistics that quietly sink people: who watches the kids on class days, which car you are driving, what your employer knows. Handle those now, while it is a conversation instead of an emergency.

What day one actually looks like
Nobody arrives knowing anything. That is the entire point of a first day, and in a room of eight it is impossible to hide — which sounds frightening and turns out to be the reason people learn fast here.

What it costs and how people pay for it

We accept Texas Workforce Solutions funding, WIOA, and GI Bill benefits, and we are a TWC-licensed career school (license #S5316). Eligibility is decided by those agencies, not by us — but the application is free and the answer is worth having before you rule anything out.

If neither October date works
Then do not force it. November 9 (Mon/Wed/Fri) and November 17 (Tue/Thu) are both on the books, and the calendar stays current.
Or start from home. The online program is self-paced and begins any day — same curriculum, no class-day schedule to build your week around. It is coursework, not hands-on chair time, and we will always tell you that plainly.
How to hold a seat
Eight seats is eight seats, and both October classes are open right now. We are not going to tell you they are almost gone — we will tell you the truth when you call, which is exactly why you should call.

In Texas, registering as a dental assistant runs through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, and their requirements are the ones that govern. What finishing here gives you is the training and the Certificate of Completion behind it.
