Dental assistant school near Overton, TX: your real options

Overton has a lot going for it — but a dental assisting school isn't one of them. Here's the honest picture for Overton folks: where the nearest real training actually is, what the drive honestly costs, and why students from small towns like yours tend to come out ahead.

The honest starting point

There's no dental assisting program inside Overton, and there probably never will be — training programs need a steady stream of students, so they cluster in the bigger East Texas hubs. For Overton, the nearest practical option is Longview. Our campus sits at 2800 Gilmer Rd, Suite 106, Longview, TX, on the Gilmer Road side of town.

So the real question isn't "is there a school in Overton?" It's "is the drive worth 12 weeks of my life?" Let's take that question seriously instead of brushing past it.

The drive, without sugarcoating

From Overton you'd run Highway 135 up through Kilgore, then follow the road on into Longview — roughly 25 miles door to door, most days around half an hour. Five days a week, that would wear thin fast. But this isn't five days a week: cohorts meet two or three days a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday), in the daytime, for about 12 weeks. Then it's over — and the career comes home with you.

Don't take our word on the gas money. Run your own numbers:

What you're driving toward

Classes are capped at 8 students and taught by our founder, Amanda Williams, RDA. The whole place is built to work like a real dental office rather than a classroom: real instruments and tray setups, charting practice on an anatomical tooth chart, SOAP notes written the way offices write them, and insurance claims worked the way a front office actually works them. If you want to see it before you decide anything, come tour the campus — plenty of students drive in from smaller towns to look first.

Daytime classes only

All in-person cohorts meet during the day. For exact class hours, call or text (903) 913-6444 — it's Amanda who answers, not a call center.

What it costs — and how Overton students pay

In-person tuition is $3,000 paid in full, or $3,500 on a payment plan — $500 down holds your seat, then the $3,000 balance in simple weekly or monthly payments. No fees bolted on later. The free Tuition Planner runs the same math as our checkout, so you can see a real payment schedule before you commit to anything.

You may not have to pay out of pocket

We accept Texas Workforce Solutions funding, WIOA, and the GI Bill. Overton sits right on the Rusk–Smith county line, and either county's Workforce Solutions office can start that conversation — or just ask us and we'll point you the right way.

The small-town advantage

We've said this before and we'll keep saying it: small-town dental offices and new RDAs are a genuinely good match. Practices in and around Overton, Arp, Troup, Kilgore, and Henderson don't get a stack of applications every week the way big-city offices do. When a trained assistant who already lives nearby shows up, that's not one resume in a pile — that's often the answer to a staffing problem the office has been carrying for months.

Train in Longview for 12 weeks. Come home to work. That's the whole play — and it's the same one we lay out for neighbors in Kilgore and across the corridor.

The online option

Our self-paced online program starts any day, costs $397 right now (limited-time sale; regularly $997), and every dollar transfers as credit toward in-person tuition if you switch within 90 days. Same curriculum, no commute — the hands-on lab time is what you'd trade. If the drive is the only thing holding you back, it's a low-risk way to start.
