First, the distance — and why you should measure it yourself

Our campus is at 2800 Gilmer Rd, Suite 106, in Longview. From Atlanta, that is roughly an hour of driving, give or take, depending on which end of town you start from and how you like to run it — down through Marshall, or over toward Gilmer and in from the north.

We are deliberately not printing an exact number here, because your number is the only one that matters and it is thirty seconds away. Put your own address into a map app, set the arrival time for the morning a class would actually start, and write down what it tells you. Do the same for the drive home. That is the figure to make this decision on — not a distance from a city center you don't live in.

At this distance, start with the format — not the school

Most people search for a school first and think about the logistics second. From Cass County, we would flip that. Decide which format your life can actually hold, then look at who offers it.

Our online program is self-paced and starts any day. There is no class schedule to miss, no drive, and no morning you have to arrange childcare for. It is the same curriculum as the in-person course and it includes the practice-management and chairside trainers our on-campus students use. What it is not — and we will not pretend otherwise — is physical hands-on training. You are not putting your hands on real instruments in a real operatory with an instructor beside you. The in-person program in Longview is daytime, runs about twelve weeks, and caps at eight students. You work with real equipment and real instruments, and somebody watches you do it and corrects you on the spot. That is the whole reason it exists. The cost of that is the drive.

If you want the room, do the commute math honestly

People talk themselves into commutes by thinking about one trip. The thing that actually wears you down is the total. Put your real numbers in below and look at the figure for the whole program — then decide.

What the drive actually buys you

It is worth being specific about what you get for that windshield time, because "hands-on" is a phrase every school uses.

In the room you are setting up and breaking down operatories, handling and passing real instruments, working through infection control as a routine instead of a chapter, taking and mounting radiographs, and charting while somebody calls findings out at you faster than you would like. You do it badly, then less badly, then automatically. Eight seats means nobody hides in the back and nobody waits their turn for an hour.

You also get people. A class of eight from towns like yours turns into the group chat that keeps you going in week seven, which sounds soft right up until week seven arrives.

Class days, class times, and no guessing

Classes are daytime. Different cohorts meet on different days, so the schedule for the class you are looking at is a specific answer rather than a general one — call or text (903) 913-6444 for exact hours and we will tell you the real days and times for that cohort before you plan a drive around it.

The money part, without a number in this paragraph

Tuition is on the enrollment page, where it comes from the same system that actually processes payments — so it is right today, which is more than an article written months ago can promise. Two things worth knowing if you are driving in from Cass County. First, add fuel to your own total — it is a real cost of the in-person option and it is one the online option doesn't have. Second, workforce funding through Workforce Solutions and veterans benefits including the GI Bill are routes students commonly ask about, and whether you qualify is the administering agency's call, not ours. Ask them first, then tell us what they said they need from a school. That order saves people weeks.

What this credential is, plainly

Finishing with us earns a Premier Dental Academy Certificate of Completion. Registering as a Registered Dental Assistant in Texas is a separate step you handle with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, and their site is where the current requirements live. We are a Texas Workforce Commission licensed career school, #S5316. Anyone who blurs finishing a course and being registered by the state is doing you no favors, so we say it separately every time.

If you're in Cass County and still on the fence

Do three small things instead of one big one. Map your own drive at the hour you would really be making it. Run your total through the calculator above. Then come see the room — a tour is free, takes about half an hour, and you can ask the questions that feel awkward in an email: what happens if I'm late because of the drive, what happens if I fall behind, what if I start online and want to switch.
